Journal of the Caribbean Kangaroo - January Update

Jan. 18th, 2008 04:43 am January Update

I'm looking out the window (or I would, were it daylight out) hoping to see snow fall at some point, but with no such luck. Luck being one of those weird X-factors upon which I'm not certain of relying.

I am scrounging for time and inspiration, and both are about as tangible as water, but all I have are my hands for grasping at it.

I've been very unhappy as of late, but in trying not to linger on the less than satisfying aspects of my existence of late, I will share some things which have brought me a little bit of enlightenment.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (sequel to "The Longest Journey")

I never have the time for video games these days, but I made time to play this one, since "The Longest Journey" was a guilty pleasure in which I indulged some years ago when I was mired in Computer Animation school. With an engrossing story that draws you in the further you play it, it's one of the few games that has felt more like an interactive novel, one that you hate to stop reading. Just brilliant.

Flight, Volume 1

There are four books in this series, to date, and I have perused them all, thought this one was given to me as a Christmas present, and it's my very own shiny copy to pour over page after inspiring page. Wholly enjoyable.

The Last Legion - Starring Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley, et. al.

This is good fun, this one. Nothing too heavy, though it is a pleasing enough adventure for fans of Arthurian mythos. Good adventure, good actors. Every Arthurian re-invention has to be given a little leeway with its narrative, and this one serves well.

Current Mood: depressed
